Joining clips that don't match

Videos from different sources often differ in size, frame rate or sound. Adapterry converts them to one shared format so they play back to back. The output takes the size of your first clip, up to 1920x1080, and clips with a different shape get black bars instead of being stretched.

Some clips have no sound at all, like screen recordings or muted phone videos. Adapterry adds silent audio to those clips so they can be joined with the ones that do have sound.

Questions and answers

Can I merge videos of different formats?

Yes. You can combine an iPhone MOV, an old AVI and an MP4 in one job. Adapterry converts them all to H.264 and AAC so they join into one MP4.

What happens if my clips have different resolutions?

The final video uses the first clip's resolution, capped at 1920x1080. Clips with a different shape are fitted with black bars, never stretched.

How many videos can I merge at once?

There is no set number. Your device's memory is the limit, so if you see a memory error, try fewer or shorter clips, or close other tabs.

Will merging lower the quality?

If all clips are H.264 with AAC and share the same settings, they are joined without re-encoding, so quality stays the same. Otherwise they are re-encoded at CRF 23, a setting that looks good for most home video.

Can I change the order after adding files?

Yes. Drag any clip to a new spot or use its up and down buttons before you click merge.
