Why convert to MP4

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the format almost every device and app expects. Windows PCs, Android phones, most smart TVs and most upload forms accept it without extra software.

When Adapterry converts a video, it uses H.264 at CRF 23 with the veryfast preset, and AAC audio at 128 kbps stereo. That gives a good balance of quality and file size. Videos larger than 1920x1080 are scaled down to fit, and frame rates above 60 fps are capped at 60.

Questions and answers

Which files can I convert to MP4?

You can convert MOV, AVI and VOB files, and you can also run an MP4 through it. More input formats are planned.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The converter runs in your web browser. Once the page and video engine have loaded, it even keeps working offline.

Does the converted video get a watermark?

No. Your MP4 comes out clean, with no logo or text added.

Can I convert a video on my phone?

Yes, for smaller clips. Long or large videos need more memory than most phones have, so use Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer for those.

What should I do if the conversion fails?

A failed job usually means the browser ran out of memory. Close other tabs, try a shorter video, or switch to Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer.
