MPG is an MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 program stream, the format many older camcorders, DVD recorders, Video CDs and TV capture cards saved. Files ending in .mpeg are the same format and work the same way.

Every MPG is fully converted to H.264 video with AAC sound. Video recorded as interlaced, common with TV and camcorder footage, is deinterlaced for modern screens. Only frames marked as interlaced are changed.
