How to extract audio from a video

  1. Choose the video

Drop an MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS or MTS file onto the page.

  2. Make the MP3

Click Extract audio as MP3. Adapterry takes the first audio track from the video and saves it at 192 kbps. With several videos, the button merges their soundtracks into one MP3.

  3. Listen, then download

Play the MP3 on the page to check it, then save it to your device.

What the MP3 contains

The MP3 is 192 kbps, 48 kHz stereo, made from the first audio track of the video. If a file holds several tracks, such as two languages, the others are left out.

Add several videos and their soundtracks are joined into one MP3, back to back, in list order. A video with no sound can't give an MP3, and Adapterry tells you so instead of making an empty file.

Questions and answers

What quality is the extracted MP3?

192 kbps, 48 kHz stereo. That is a common MP3 setting, and the file plays on nearly any phone, computer or music player.

Why do I get a message saying my video has no audio?

The video has no audio track, so there is nothing to turn into an MP3. Screen recordings and muted clips often have no sound.

Can I combine the audio from several videos into one MP3?

Yes. Add the videos in the order you want, and their soundtracks are joined back to back in one MP3.

Which video formats can I take audio from?

Any supported video: MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS and MTS.

Can I listen to the MP3 before downloading?

Yes. The MP3 plays right on the page, so you can check it before you save it.
