Convert WEBM to MP3

A recorded video call or a browser screen recording often lands as a WEBM file. When you only need what was said, turn it into an MP3 you can play back anywhere.

From a web recording to an MP3

WEBM is the video format of the web, usually VP9 or VP8 video with Opus sound. Browser recorders and some call tools save it, but many music players, car stereos and older phones don't know what to do with a .webm file.

Adapterry reads the first audio track and writes a 192 kbps, 48 kHz stereo MP3, which plays almost everywhere. Several WEBM files are joined into one MP3 in list order. Before you share a call, make sure everyone in it agreed to be recorded.

Questions and answers

Why won't my WEBM file play in my music app?

Most music apps don't read WEBM. Converting it to MP3 keeps the sound and gives you a file nearly every player opens.

Can I merge two WEBM call recordings into one MP3?

Yes. Add both, put them in order and click Merge & convert to MP3. The second call starts right after the first.

My browser screen recording has no sound. What now?

If the recorder captured only the picture, the WEBM has no audio and can't become an MP3. Adapterry shows a message saying so.

Is the recorded call sent to a server?

No. The WEBM is converted inside your browser and never uploaded, so a private meeting stays on your computer.

Can I play the WEBM audio as MP3 before downloading?

Yes. Once it is done, a player on the page plays the MP3, so you can check it and then click Download MP3.
