How to convert VOB to MOV
Open the disc's VIDEO_TS folder
Find the VOB you want, such as VTS_01_1.VOB. Add the other VTS_01 files in order if you want the whole recording in one MOV.
Convert it to MOV
Pick MOV and click Convert to MOV. The DVD picture is deinterlaced and re-encoded to H.264, and the sound becomes AAC.
Check it, then edit
Play the MOV preview on the page, download it and import it into iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

Getting DVD video ready for editing
Video from a home DVD is MPEG-2, usually interlaced, and split into VOB files of about 1 GB. A single MOV with H.264 video and AAC audio is a far better fit for iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Adapterry converts the VOB to that and deinterlaces the picture so motion looks clean.
The MOV keeps the DVD's frame size and the first audio track. If the disc has extra languages or a commentary, they are left out. Copy-protected discs are not supported, but discs you burned yourself and other unprotected discs work.
Questions and answers
Can I edit DVD footage in iMovie after converting?
Yes. The MOV holds H.264 video and AAC audio in Apple's QuickTime container. Import it into iMovie or Final Cut Pro like any other clip.
How do I turn a whole DVD recording into one MOV?
Add VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB and the rest of that set in order, then choose MOV. Leave out VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01_0.VOB, which usually hold menus.
Will the MOV be in HD?
No. It keeps the DVD's own resolution, such as 720x480 or 720x576. Converting can't add detail that was never on the disc.
Does VOB to MOV work with store-bought DVDs?
Not if the disc is copy-protected. CSS-encrypted discs are not supported. Home-made and other unprotected discs work.
What if my DVD has two languages?
Only the first audio track is kept in the MOV. Other languages and commentary tracks are left out.
