How to convert TS to VOB
Bring in the TS file
Drop the .ts recording from your set-top box or DVB tuner onto the page.
Turn it into DVD video
Choose VOB and click Convert to VOB. Adapterry picks NTSC or PAL from the recording's frame rate and re-encodes it to the DVD standard.
Author the disc
VOB can't play in a browser, so download it right away. Add it to your DVD authoring software to create the menus and burn the disc.

Supported formats
Add MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS or MTS files, or a mix, and get back one MP4, MOV, AVI or VOB, or an MP3 of the sound. MP4 plays almost everywhere.
From broadcast recording to DVD
A TS recording and a DVD often both use MPEG-2, but a DVD needs a fixed size and frame rate. Adapterry makes a 720x480 VOB at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL), chosen from the recording's frame rate, so it is always a full conversion. HD broadcasts are scaled down, with black bars where the shape differs.
A VOB on its own won't play as a DVD in a disc player. Open it in DVD authoring software to build the disc. Only the first audio track of the recording ends up in the VOB.
Questions and answers
Will my HD TV recording stay HD on the DVD?
No. DVD video is 720x480 or 720x576, so an HD broadcast is scaled down and loses some fine detail.
Do I get NTSC or PAL from a TS file?
Adapterry reads the recording's frame rate and makes either 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL).
What about the AC3 sound in my recording?
The VOB gets AC3 (Dolby Digital) sound, the DVD standard. Only the first audio track from the recording is used.
Can I put several recorded episodes in one VOB?
Yes. Add them in the order you want and choose VOB. They become one VOB at DVD resolution.
Does the VOB play straight away in a DVD player?
Not as a loose file. Build a disc from it with DVD authoring software first, then burn it.
