Getting TS footage into Apple apps

QuickTime, iMovie and Final Cut Pro work with MOV files holding H.264 video and AAC audio. A TS from a set-top box, DVB tuner, stream download or game recorder often holds the same H.264 video, just in a different container.

Can I edit a TV recording in Final Cut Pro?

An H.264 and AAC recording is only rewrapped, so it is quick. MPEG-2 recordings need a full conversion, which can take several minutes for a long show.

What happens to interlaced broadcast video?

When the TS is fully converted, interlaced video is deinterlaced, so you don't see comb lines on movement in iMovie.

Can I join several game capture .ts files into one MOV?
