How to convert MTS to VOB
Gather the MTS files
From PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM on the card, drop 00000.MTS and the rest of the recording onto the page.
Convert to DVD size
Set the output to VOB and click Convert to VOB. Adapterry deinterlaces the HD footage, scales it to DVD size and picks NTSC or PAL from the frame rate.
Build your disc
No preview is shown, since browsers can't play VOB. Download it and open it in your DVD authoring software to add menus and burn.

Supported formats
Add MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS or MTS files, or a mix, and get back one MP4, MOV, AVI or VOB, or an MP3 of the sound. MP4 plays almost everywhere.
HD camcorder footage at DVD size
DVD video has fixed sizes: 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL). Your full HD camcorder footage is scaled down to fit, with widescreen or 4:3 chosen from its shape and black bars where needed. Some fine detail is lost, since DVD resolution is lower than HD.
The VOB holds MPEG-2 video and AC3 sound, the DVD standard, but it is not a playable disc on its own. DVD authoring software builds the disc. Merge the numbered MTS files of one recording first, so the whole event ends up in a single VOB.
Questions and answers
Can I make a DVD from my AVCHD camcorder footage?
Yes, in two steps. Convert the MTS files to a VOB here, then open the VOB in DVD authoring software to build and burn the disc.
Does the VOB keep my camcorder's full HD?
No. DVD video is 720x480 or 720x576, so 1080i footage is deinterlaced and scaled down. Some fine detail is lost compared with the original.
How does Adapterry choose NTSC or PAL for camcorder video?
It reads the frame rate of the first clip. You get 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL).
Can I put a whole day of camcorder clips on one VOB?
Yes. Add every MTS file in the order you want and choose VOB. They are merged into a single VOB at DVD resolution.
What happens to the camcorder's Dolby Digital sound?
It is re-encoded to AC3, the Dolby Digital format DVDs use. Only the first audio track is kept.
