How to convert MTS to AVI

  1. Add the camcorder files

    Drop the .mts files from the card's STREAM folder onto the page. They line up in number order.

Camcorder clips for players that read AVI

Many older TVs and USB media players read AVI files with DivX or Xvid style video but not AVCHD. The AVI from Adapterry holds MPEG-4 Part 2 video, the kind those players expect, with MP3 sound.

MTS to AVI is a full conversion, and 1080i footage is deinterlaced along the way. The frame size is kept up to 1920x1080. A long recording split into 00000.MTS, 00001.MTS and so on can be merged into one AVI, so it plays without stopping between files.

Why won't my TV play the MTS files from my camcorder?
