NTSC, PAL and the shape of your picture
DVD video has fixed sizes. Adapterry makes a 720x480 VOB at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or a 720x576 VOB at 25 fps (PAL), chosen from your MP4's frame rate. It also picks widescreen or 4:3 from the shape of your video and adds black bars where needed, so nothing is stretched.
A VOB on its own is not a playable DVD. To burn a disc with menus, open the VOB in DVD authoring software and let it write the disc. The VOB from Adapterry gives that software video and sound in the DVD standard to work with.

Why does my HD video look softer as a VOB?
DVD resolution is 720x480 or 720x576, which is lower than HD. A 1080p MP4 is scaled down to fit the DVD standard, so some fine detail is lost.
Can I put several MP4 clips into one VOB?
Yes. Add them in order and choose VOB. Clips without sound get silence, and the whole set becomes one VOB at DVD resolution.
