How to convert MOV to AVI
Drop in the MOV
Add a .mov video from your iPhone, Mac or camera. H.264 and HEVC clips both work.
Turn it into an AVI
Choose AVI as the output and click Convert to AVI. The video becomes MPEG-4 Part 2 and the sound becomes MP3, all on your computer.
Copy it to your player
Download the AVI when it's done. Browsers can't preview AVI, so check it on the TV or player you made it for.

Supported formats
Add MOV, AVI, VOB or MP4 files, or a mix of them, and get back one file in any of those four formats. MP4 is the one that plays almost everywhere.
From Apple's format to an older one
iPhones and Macs save MOV files with H.264 or HEVC video. Many older TVs, media players with USB playback and DVD players with DivX support may not read either one. They expect AVI with MPEG-4 Part 2 video, the kind DivX and Xvid players read, and MP3 audio.
Adapterry fully converts the MOV to that mix. The frame size is kept up to 1920x1080, or 1080x1920 for a portrait iPhone video, and frame rates above 60 fps are capped at 60. A 4K clip is scaled down to fit.
Questions and answers
Can I convert an HEVC iPhone video to AVI?
Yes. HEVC and H.264 MOV files both convert. The result uses MPEG-4 Part 2 video and MP3 audio, which older players are more likely to read.
What happens to a portrait iPhone video?
It stays portrait. Adapterry keeps the original shape, up to 1080x1920, and does not stretch it to fill a widescreen frame.
Is MOV to AVI slower than MOV to MP4?
Often, yes. An H.264 MOV can become an MP4 without re-encoding, but AVI uses different codecs, so every MOV to AVI job is a full conversion.
Can I convert several MOV clips into one AVI?
Yes. Add them all, put them in order and choose AVI. The first clip sets the frame size, other shapes get black bars, and clips without sound get silence.
Is my MOV uploaded during conversion?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, and the file is read straight from your disk. Nothing is sent to a server.
