How to convert M4V to VOB
Pick the M4V files
Drop one unprotected .m4v file, or several in the order they should play on the disc.
Convert them to VOB
Choose VOB and click Convert to VOB. The H.264 picture is scaled to DVD size and re-encoded to MPEG-2, and the sound to AC3.
Author the disc
Download the VOB. It can't be previewed in the browser, so open it in your DVD authoring software, add menus and burn.
Why people use Adapterry
Nothing is uploaded
Your videos are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
No account needed
Open the page and start. No email, no password.

Works offline
Once the page and video engine have loaded, you can keep working without an internet connection.
Supported formats
Add MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS or MTS files, or a mix, and get back one MP4, MOV, AVI or VOB, or an MP3 of the sound. MP4 plays almost everywhere.
Your M4V at DVD resolution
A DVD uses 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL). Adapterry picks the one that suits your M4V's frame rate, chooses widescreen or 4:3 from its shape, and adds black bars instead of stretching the picture.
This is always a full conversion, so allow time for long videos. Only unprotected M4V files work: copy-protected (DRM) iTunes purchases can't be converted. The VOB is ready for authoring software, not a disc you can play as it is.
Questions and answers
Can I put an iTunes movie on a DVD with this?
Only if it is unprotected. Copy-protected (DRM) iTunes purchases can't be converted.
Why does the VOB look softer than my M4V?
DVD video has a fixed resolution of 720x480 or 720x576, which is much lower than HD. HD footage is scaled down to fit.
Does M4V to VOB re-encode everything?
Yes. The H.264 and AAC in your M4V are replaced with DVD MPEG-2 video and AC3 sound.
Can several M4V clips become one VOB?
Yes. Add them in order and choose VOB, and they are joined into one file at DVD resolution.
Do I need special software after converting?
Yes, DVD authoring software. The VOB holds the video and sound, and the authoring tool turns it into a disc with menus and burns it.
