From Apple video to a DivX style AVI

M4V files from iTunes downloads, iPhone or Mac exports and HandBrake play well on Apple devices, but many older TVs, DVD players with DivX support and USB media players don't read them. Those players do read AVI files with MPEG-4 Part 2 video and MP3 sound.

Every M4V to AVI job is a full conversion, since AVI uses different codecs. The picture keeps its size up to 1920x1080 and frame rates are capped at 60 fps. Copy-protected (DRM) M4V files can't be converted.

Why is M4V to AVI slower than M4V to MP4?
