How to convert 3GP to VOB
Load the 3GP
Drop a .3gp video from the old phone onto the page, or click to select it.
Build the VOB
Set the output to VOB and click Convert to VOB. Adapterry picks NTSC or PAL from the clip's frame rate and writes MPEG-2 video with AC3 sound.
Hand it to your DVD software
Browsers can't play VOB, so there is no preview. Download the file and open it in your DVD authoring software to make the disc.

Supported formats
Add MP4, MOV, AVI, VOB, MKV, WebM, MPG, M4V, 3GP, TS or MTS files, or a mix, and get back one MP4, MOV, AVI or VOB, or an MP3 of the sound. MP4 plays almost everywhere.
Low resolution phone video on a DVD
A VOB is DVD video at a fixed size: 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL), chosen from your clip's frame rate. The small 3GP picture is scaled to fit and black bars fill any gaps, so nothing is stretched. Scaling up doesn't add detail, so expect the soft look of old phone video.
The VOB is not a playable disc on its own. DVD authoring software turns it into one, with menus if you want them. What the VOB gives that software is MPEG-2 video and AC3 sound in the DVD standard.
Questions and answers
Will a 3GP clip fill the screen on a DVD?
It is scaled to DVD size, 720x480 or 720x576, and black bars fill any gap so the picture keeps its shape. Scaling can't add detail, so it still looks like phone video.
Is the VOB ready to burn as a DVD disc?
Not by itself. Open it in DVD authoring software, which builds the disc and any menus, then burn from there.
Which do I get from a 3GP, NTSC or PAL?
Adapterry looks at the clip's frame rate. You get 720x480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 720x576 at 25 fps (PAL).
Can I put all my old phone clips in one VOB?
Yes. Add them, put them in order and choose VOB. Clips without sound get silence, and the whole set becomes one VOB.
Why is there no preview of the converted 3GP?
Browsers can't play VOB files. Adapterry shows the file size and a download button instead. Check the result in your DVD authoring software.
