How to convert 3GP to MP4
Drop in the old phone clip
Copy the .3gp file off the old phone or its memory card, then drop it onto the page or click to browse for it.
Turn it into an MP4
Click Convert to MP4. Older H.263 video and AMR sound are re-encoded to H.264 and AAC. A clip that already uses H.264 and AAC is copied across without re-encoding.
Check it and keep it
Play the MP4 in the preview on the page, then download it and file it with the rest of your videos.

Why old 3GP videos stop playing
3GP was made for phones with small screens and slow networks. Many of these files hold H.263 video and AMR sound, which a lot of modern players and apps no longer open. Converting gives you an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which plays almost everywhere.
3GP clips are small and low resolution, and the MP4 keeps the same frame size. Converting makes the video playable, not sharper, so expect it to look the way it did on the phone. Files that already hold H.264 and AAC skip re-encoding and move to MP4 with no quality loss.
Questions and answers
Will the MP4 look sharper than my old 3GP video?
No. Adapterry keeps the original frame size and can't add detail the phone never recorded. The MP4 looks the same as before, but now it plays on modern devices.
Why won't my old phone's 3GP videos open on my computer?
Many 3GP files use H.263 video and AMR audio, which a lot of current players no longer support. An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio plays almost everywhere.
Can I join a pile of short phone clips into one MP4?
Yes. Add them all, drag them into the order you want and click Convert to MP4. Adapterry merges them into one MP4. Clips without sound get silence.
Is 3GP to MP4 always a full conversion?
Usually, because most 3GP files use H.263 and AMR. If a clip already holds H.264 video and AAC audio, Adapterry copies it into the MP4 without re-encoding, which is quick and lossless.
Are my old family videos uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the clips never leave your device. There is no signup and no watermark.
